Life Care Centers of America’s Whatever It Takes And Then Some program honors associates who go beyond their job descriptions in caring for residents, their families and fellow associates. Here are three of the inspiring stories from our January 2017 winners:
Tamela Litner, transportation assistant at Rivergate Terrace in Riverview, Michigan, went out of her way for a resident the day after taking her to a doctor’s appointment. The patient had lost her hair due to chemotherapy and was concerned with her appearance. Litner brought in all kinds of colorful headbands to help the patient feel more pretty and feminine.
Doris Ray, dietary aide at Life Care Center of Omaha, Nebraska, encourages residents to come to the dining room for meals with an innovative idea. She has a weekly contest for residents who dine there to guess how many candies are in a dish. Whoever is the closest gets the candy in the dish for that week.
Natalie Scott, certified nursing assistant at Life Care Center of Mount Vernon, Washington, collected more than 40 donations for the resident Christmas party. She also arranged an outing and met a resident on her own time so he could see a movie in a theater, which he truly enjoyed.
