The town of Riverview, Michigan, has a population of around 13,000, and Rivergate Complex, a skilled nursing and rehab campus in town, has served almost double that number.

On May 19, 2016, Rivergate Terrace and Rivergate Health Care Center, which together make up the Rivergate Complex, hosted a Celebration of Service in honor of having served more than 25,000 patients since the first building opened in 1971.

The event was a come-and-go open house for the community and featured refreshments, an ice sculpture and several speakers from the company and area leaders. Riverview Mayor Andrew Swift; John Polturanus, vice president of parent company Life Care Centers of America’s Lakes Region; and Chuck Gaidica, a local TV news anchor, were among the special guests.

“The event was truly a milestone that many long-term care facilities will never achieve,” said Polturanus. “It was an honor to be able to share this time with current staff and residents. As the largest employer in Riverview, we have always positioned ourselves as active participants in city events, while providing support to community decisions and projects. As I reflect upon the many years we have provided services and the number of individuals entrusted to our care during this time, I cannot help but feel a tremendous sense of pride to know how blessed we are to be able to help so many people with what could be said to be the most difficult time in someone’s life.”
